Electives
Students in Years 7 and 8 follow a standardised, compulsory program of study. During Years 9 and 10 they are able to choose three new subjects from a range of elective courses.
Currently the school offers the following courses, English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Languages, Commerce, Design & Technology, Food Technology, Textiles Technology, Graphics Technology, Industrial Technology - Wood, MultimediaMetal and Electronics, Information Software & Technology, PD/Health/PE, Physical Activity & Sports, Science, Digital Media, Visual Arts, Music, Drama and Dance and Child Studies.
Years 11 and 12
- Preliminary HSC CoursesStudents have a very wide selection of courses available to them during the senior years. English is the only subject which must be studied for the Higher School Certificate.
Currently the school offers the following courses which are studied for 8 periods per fortnight. English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Senior Science, Ancient History, Modern History, Society & Culture, Business Studies, Legal Studies, Economics, Geography, Design & Technology, Industrial Technology, Information Processes, Engineering Studies, French, German, Japanese, Hospitality, Food Technology, Community & Family Studies, PD/H/PE, Sport Lifestyle & Recreation Studies, Photography, Visual Arts, Visual Design, Dance, Drama, Music, Construction, Furnishing and Entertainment.
Three of these subjects - Hospitality, Construction and Entertainment - are VET courses offering the students dual accreditation towards TAFE entry and the HSC. Our students also take up the opportunity to complete TAFE courses while at school, in a range of areas, including Child Studies, Community Service, Fitness, Multi Media, Airbrush, Fashion Design, Nursing Intro, Property Services (Real Estate), Vehicle Industry - repair or refinishing, Automotive Trade, Electrical Trade, Plumbing Trade, Hairdressing, Media Film & TV, Music Business Skills and Retail.
